Parker’s first experience with kite-flying occurred over the weekend. I bought it for her a few weeks ago thinking she may be ready to experience understand the Zen Buddhist aspects of kite-flying at the tender age of 3 1/2.
She had some trouble grasping the idea of running solely in one direction (against the wind-down the street) so therefore the kite-flying involved a lot of restarts. She enjoyed it for about 15 minutes then she came upon the unique enjoyment of throwing a pile of neatly swept leaves up in the air while laughingly shouting “look dad, it’s raining!”

think of it as buying 15 minutes of running - that's worth something in my book.
It took me 1/2 hr to get our kite up. By the time I did it, Katie had zero interest and was like "nice job mom" and then turned around and continued to play with papa...
isn't it sweet to see your little one with a kite? dylann still just enjoys getting it in the air, and then she wants to do it over and over again.
We went to the college the next day and flew the kites in an open space. It was quite relaxing for myself. Parker wasn't very interested in it but maybe it's a good hobby to take up.
